Often, new clients who begin a fat-loss meal plan have difficulty recognising and managing their appetite. A big part of losing weight is how you respond to feeling hungry. In fact, a lot of people aren't sure whether they should be feeling hungry or not while they're losing weight. Loads of people go on diets every year without proper guidance or coaching. In the end, they fail to lose body fat simply because their diet doesn't meet their needs and goals.

Should you be hungry in a Fat Loss phase?

Ultimately, yes. A little bit of hunger is a normal part of losing body fat. Essentially, we're giving your body just a little bit less food than it needs. That way, it's encouraged to tap into its energy reserves, i.e. your stored fat.

This is a broad overview of how a calorie deficit works. In order to lose weight, your body has to burn off more energy than it consumes. When you regularly eat a little bit less than your energy output, you'll be in what's called a calorie deficit.

The key to reducing your weight and losing body fat effectively is managing your hunger

If you drop your calorie intake too low, then it's more likely you'll end up starving and eat more to compensate.

Ideally, we want to be at a point where you feel a little bit hungry. In other words, you feel like you could eat more, but choose not to. Your hunger levels are manageable, therefore you can remain in your calorie deficit and reduce your body fat level over time.
